Innov’ Health Certificate - Liban

Innov’ Health certificate covers the soft skills needed for managing innovations and developing an expertise in the field. Participants will interact with seasoned experts including École Polytechnique professors, physicians and hospital management leaders.

Many topics will be covered throughout the program:
• E-health Apps
• Telemedicine
• AI and Algorithms based on machine learning
• Robotics and medical imaging
• Data, Big Data and its impact: Genomic - Remote monitoring system - Prevention - Diagnosis - Population analysis - Ethics

The Covid-19 pandemic has already changed tremendously healthcare organizations and has boosted the digital transformation of the sector. A special attention will be given to this crisis and its consequences throughout the program.

Group assignments for developing a collaborative project and discussions around case studies will be encouraged.

Programme

SESSION 1: THE MAPPING OF E-HEALTH, INCLUDING ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE, AROUND THE WORLD
Objectives: Understand the basis of a healthcare system and its challenges. Learn about the impacts of innovation on the health industry.

Day 1: Changing landscape in the healthcare systems
• The concept of the healthcare system: balancing economy, quality and reducing inequality
• Social protection: what are the existing models ? And are they innovating ?
• The role of innovation in the evolution of healthcare systems

Day 2: The impact of e-health on healthcare systems
• The impact of e-health on the patient’s pathway and its related challenges such as coordination.
• E-health as an answer to coordination of care issues
• E-health as a means to improve the patient and citizen’s autonomy
• E-health: a new paradigm for payors and insurers

Day 3: The impact of e-health: current challenges
• How to define, e-health and its uses
• Ethics and legal problematics
• Diffusion of e-health: a management project

 

SESSION 2: DATA AND E-HEALTH IN MEDICAL PRACTICES AND THE PATIENT JOURNEY
Objectives: Learn about the major trends in medical innovation, and the impacts of AI on medicine.

Day 1: Current applications in healthcare
• The 4Ps : prediction, personalized, preventive and participative
• Panorama of health innovations such as:
o Data analysis
o Big data
o Medical imaging…
• Lebanon: where do we stand ?

Day 2: Research and managerial challenges
• Should we trust all e-health technologies: Biases related to data analysis and its uses
• The Human-Machine relation

 

SESSION 3: THE ROLE OF E-HEALTH: TECHNOLOGICAL AND ORGANIZATIONAL INNOVATIONS
Objectives: Be aware of the emerging new management principles (pluridisciplinary, pluricultural, plurisectorial approaches)

Day 1: The emergence of new actors, new ways of working and how to adapt to this trend
• The relationship between technological and organizational innovations
• How will healthcare and its organization respond to these changes ?
• Agility of a start-up versus strategies of established entities: how to work together, and learn from each other ?

Day 2: Essential partnership and its regulation
• How will the growth of the medical-industrial complex be regulated ?
• Ethical, social, financial issues, partnership with industrials

 

SESSION 4: FROM THE PROOF-OF-CONCEPT (POC) TO THE COMMERCIAL SOLUTION
Objectives: Understand how to spread innovation and build the management structure to make it successful.

Day 1: The journey from the idea, to reaching the market. Development of a Proof Of Concept (POC) and related issues:
• Evaluation
• Legal constraints
• Project management

Day 2: How to reach the commercial solution:
• Research-Industry partnership
• Financing the project
• Economic models Day 3: Working session
• This day will dedicated to finalizing the projects, under the supervision of the expert

    Participants will work in small groups on a project to be selected at the beginning of the program. Each group will choose an innovation in e-health and will develop it using the tools acquired during the different modules (analysis of the needs, definition of an economic model, feasibility, etc.). A time will be dedicated at the end of each session for projects’ discussions. Participants will present their projects to an independent jury at the end of the program.
